My Bucket List

Mt. Pilchuck Trailhead, getting ready for our sunse

Building a bucket list is something that I have always encouraged my kids to do as a way to channel their curiosity into action.  But as of June 2017 (when I set up the blog) I didn’t have a list for myself.  I’m well into my 40’s and decided that I needed a new and improved bucket list to get me through the next 20-30 years.

For this exercise I decided to use the Tim Ferriss approach to bucket lists:

…list up to five things you dream of having (including, but not limited to, material wants: house, car, clothing, etc.),being (be a great cook, be fluent in Chinese, etc.), and doing (visiting Thailand, tracing your roots overseas, racing ostriches, etc.), in that order…. Reference

After some soul searching, feedback from friends and family, and experimenting with some online bucket list tools I came up with a list and decided to track it here.

A big thing that isn’t a specific item on this list is my goal of raising nerd assassins.  That is, participating in the growth and development of my children in a way that constantly challenges them to grow to their full potential.  So, long story short, this whole list is intended to include kids and family except the date night bucket list.

That said, here is my list:

Below is a list of things that I would like to have or am working toward acquiring.

  • A sailboat (or easy access to a sailboat
  • A mortgage free home
  • The financial means to help my kids through college
  • A highly productive investment portfolio (to fund this bucket list)
  • A blog to track my bucket list

Here is a list of things that I would like to learn and/or be.  I organized this by skills that I would like to acquire:
